Timothy announced in the car on the way home from church “Mum, I want make some drawings so I can sell them and get some money to give to the poor children in Papua New Guinea.” He’d heard about the plight of children in PNG at Sunday School from a Gateway Children’s Fund Ambassador.

His mother, naturally touched by how cute and thoughtful this was, encouraged her son about his great idea.

Sure enough, as soon as he got home Timothy got to work creating his masterpieces. Sometime later that day, he was ready to sell his them.

So he headed out to the unsuspecting neighbours and asked them if they would like to buy one of his drawings. He simply explained that the money wasn’t for him for the “poor children in PNG”.

He came home with $8.90 in his pocket, but wasn’t about to stop there.

On Thursday of that same week, he asked his mum to write a sign for him that said “Would you like a massage? Fifty cents for 5 minutes. All money raised for poor children in PNG.” He took his idea and sign to his older brother’s basketball game, and came home with another $9.

He had now raised $17 in four days, but wasn’t about to stop there.

His latest venture is ‘investing’ in chocolates and reselling them at a margin, so he can get more money for the “poor children in PNG”.

What an entrepreneur! What a great heart! What a difference he has made!

Timothy’s efforts purchased a ‘New Baby Pack’ for a mother in Port Moresby. The pack contains essentials for infant care, including a mosquito net, nappies, and clothes.
